Bedfordshire Honours Celebration and Presentation Ceremony

The Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire joins community members awarded an honour in HM The King's Birthday Honours List

The Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, alongside The Vice Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire and Deputy Lieutenants gathered together with members of the community and their families to celebrate their achievements and be awarded their BEM medals. 

Ms Bernadette Barnes, Ms Janice Buckle, Mr Ian Farthing, Ms Susan Pearson and Mr Joseph Healy (Honorary BEM) joined the ceremony where they were presented their British Empire Medals and certificates from HM The Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire. 

During this ceremony, Mr Bruno Reddy was congratulated on his OBE for services to education. 

Ms Shannon Gorry, Ms Danella Gourd and Mr Emran Ahmed were also awarded their Royal Humane Society Certificate of Commendation to thank them for their bravery and quick response in an emergency. The three individuals were congratulated by The Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire for putting their training into action to try to save a man's life. 

Deputy Lieutenant Ruth Lloyd read the citation for the Meritorious Service award, which was awarded to Mr Alistair Rigg. Mr Rigg has been a pillar of the community within the Luton Sea Cadet Unit. 

Mr Rob Gurney was finally awarded his Disability in Policing Lifetime Achievement Award by The Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire. Mr Gurney took a few moments to thank the Lord Lieutenant and summarised some of the tremendous work he is doing with the police force and further charity organisations. 

The event was joined by the Mayors of Bedford and Biggleswade, as well as Station Commander Chris Brooks of RAF Henlow.
