The Queen’s Green Canopy
Sat 1st October 2022
The Queen's Green Canopy project aimed to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee and subsequently honoured Her Majesty’s memory following her death.

The project has now come to an end. Many individuals, organisations and communities took part by planting trees, and recording the planting on the interactive map . More information on the project can be found at The Queen's Green Canopy website

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) was a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative was extended for an additional year from October 2022 until March 2023, this gave people the opportunity to plant trees in memory of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Over a million trees were planted in Her Majesty’s memory across the country, during the first planting season. Everyone from individuals to Scout and Girlguiding groups, villages, cities, counties, schools, and businesses took part to enhance our environment by planting trees.

With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC encouraged planting of trees and hedgerows to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.
